What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic medicine is a branch of alternative medicine where the physician evaluates, examines and treats mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine and other joints, utilizing his/her hands. Typically the spine is evaluated, as the cause of disorders of the spine and/or nerves arise from the spine. Depending on the examination findings and diagnosis, manual manipulation and therapy of the misaligned joints of the spinal column may be performed. The use of medication or injections is never utilized with chiropractic interventions. Additional conservative means may be implemented including acupuncture, rehab, nutritional supplementation, electric stim and/or therapeutic ultrasound. By addressing the source of the problem, the problem is corrected, thus attempting to relieve the patient from pain.
